How to use
Intent

iOS Android

Photo shoots

1
Tap the + button on the home screen to start a new shoot.
2
Take or add a reference photo. Intent automatically records the date, time, location, and weather conditions for that moment.
3
Add a written note, or tap the microphone to transcribe your voice directly into the notes field.
4
Choose an existing location. Or create a new one to file the shoot under.
5
Tap Save. Your shoot is stored locally on your device.
Note — Voice transcription runs on-device and feeds directly into the notes field, so you can talk through what you're seeing without typing.
1
Tap a shoot from the home screen to open it.
2
Tap to edit — your notes, tags, or voice transcription.
3
Changes save automatically as you make them.
1
Tap Settings in the main navigation.
2
Look for Manage Locations. Tap Rename Locations.
3
Tap the location name you want to change. Edit it. Tap Save.

Browsing your shoots

1
Tap the list icon in the toolbar on the home screen to toggle between the two views.
2
Location view (default) groups your shoots by where you shot them. Swipe horizontally to move between locations.
3
Flat list view shows all shoots in a single chronological list, newest first, across all locations.
Note — The toggle works in both All Shoots and Recent modes.

Tags

1
Open a shoot by tapping it from the home screen.
2
Tap the tags field and start typing. Intent suggests matches from your existing tags and a built-in list of photography terms.
3
Tap a suggestion to add it, or finish typing and confirm to create a new tag.
4
To remove a tag, tap the × on the tag inside the shoot.
Note — Tags are fully searchable. Once you tag a shoot "golden hour" or "long exposure," you can find every shoot with that tag from the search screen.

Search

1
Tap the magnifying glass in the toolbar on the home screen.
2
Type any word or phrase. Intent searches across your notes, tags, location names, and weather summaries simultaneously.
3
Results appear as you type. Each result shows a match hint so you can see at a glance why it came up.
4
Tap any result to open the full shoot.
Note — Try searching for weather conditions like "overcast" or "wind" — Intent captures those automatically, so your field conditions become searchable without any extra effort.

Recycle bin

1
Swipe left on a shoot from the home screen and tap Recycle. The shoot moves to the recycle bin — it isn't permanently removed yet.
2
To access the recycle bin, tap Recycle Bin on the main navigation.
3
To restore an individual shoot, swipe left on it and choose Undelete. It returns to the home screen exactly where it was. If you swipe far enough you will also see Delete. Tap that to permanently delete only that shoot.
4
To empty Recycle Bin, tap the Trash Can in the top toolbar. All shoots in the bin will be permanently deleted.
Note — Deleted shoots don't appear in search results — only active shoots are searched.

Exporting your shoots

1
Tap Settings in the main navigation.
2
Scroll down to Data. Tap Export Journal.
3
Review the notes about what is exported. Tap Export Journal.
4
Choose the destination for the zip file. Email will be the best choice for most everyone.
Note — Export only exports the text details of your shoot as of version 1.
